Best free tools, ranked
Most "best tools" lists are really lists of the most expensive tools, ranked by who pays the biggest affiliate commission. These are different. Every tool on every list here has a real free plan, not a 30-day trial that locks you out the moment you get attached.
I rank each list on one thing first: how far the free tier actually gets you before you have to pay. A tool that gives you 10,000 free subscribers beats one that gives you 500, even if the 500-subscriber tool has a nicer logo. After that I weigh whether the tool is good enough that you would happily keep paying once you outgrow the free plan, because that is the whole point of starting free.
That is the freestack idea: start on free plans, prove the thing works, and only pay when the tool is making you money, not before.

7 tools rankedHow to read these lists
Each list opens with an at-a-glance table so you can see the ranking in five seconds, then a full write-up for every tool: a screenshot, what it is actually good at, an honest list of what is not great, the real free-tier numbers, and where it starts charging.
The order is editorial, not pay-to-play. I research every tool against its live pricing page and current free-plan limits, then rank it. Some links are affiliate links, which means freestack earns a commission if you upgrade later. That never changes where a tool sits on a list. If the free plan is worse, it ranks lower, affiliate program or not.
- Real free plans only, never trials dressed up as free
- Ranked by how far the free tier gets you, then by long-term fit
- Researched against live pricing, not last year's numbers
- Affiliate links never move a tool up the list
