About Grafana Cloud

Grafana Cloud is the hosted version of the Grafana observability stack: dashboards plus managed Prometheus metrics, Loki logs, Tempo traces, Pyroscope profiles, k6 load testing and on-call. Developers and small platform teams use it to avoid running their own monitoring servers. The Free tier is permanent, needs no credit card, and is sized for a small production workload rather than a demo.

Where the free plan stops

The 3-user cap and the 14-day retention are what usually force an upgrade, ahead of the ingestion limits. A team of four cannot share dashboards on the free tier, and two weeks of history is short for capacity planning. The Pro tier starts from $19 per month plus usage, with volume discounts, and charges pay-as-you-go above the free allowances. Pro extends metrics retention to 13 months and logs, traces, profiles and k6 results to 30 days, and adds 8x5 email support.

Who it suits

A solo developer or a team of up to three running a few services will find the free tier covers metrics, logs and alerting for a long time. Teams larger than three, anyone needing more than two weeks of history, or workloads that ingest well over 50 GB of logs a month should model Pro's usage pricing before relying on it.
