About TaxCalcTool

TaxCalcTool is an independent, free collection of browser-based tax calculators. Its main tool is an Australian resident-employee take-home pay calculator covering income tax, Medicare and optional HELP repayments, with annual income, pay-period averages, salary-package splits and salary comparisons. It also offers narrower income-tax-band tools for Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and New Zealand that show bracket rates but exclude local taxes, deductions or payroll items, so they do not estimate full take-home pay. Calculations run entirely in the visitor's browser with no account, no card, and no usage cap. There is no paid tier or separate pricing page. Each calculator states its country, year and scope, and links to official source references.

Pros & Cons

Genuinely free with no account or card required
Clear disclosure of what each calculator does and does not cover

Not a substitute for filing, payroll or professional tax advice

The free plan in practice

What you can actually do on TaxCalcTool's free plan (No account, no card, no usage cap, calculations run in the browser), where it stops, and when it's worth paying.

What you can do free

  • Australian take-home pay calculator with income tax, Medicare and optional HELP
  • Salary-package split and salary comparison tools
  • Income-tax-band tools for Canada, US, UK and New Zealand
  • Worked calculation breakdowns with official source references
  • No account, no card, calculations run in the browser

Where it stops

  • Full take-home pay calculation is limited to the Australian resident-employee profile
  • International bracket tools show tax bands only, not full take-home pay
  • General estimates, not filing, payroll or personal tax advice

When to upgrade to a paid plan

Stay on the free plan while you're comfortably under the free plan's limit (No account, no card, no usage cap, calculations run in the browser). It's worth moving to a paid plan once you consistently bump into that ceiling, need to remove branding, or want features the free tier holds back.
