About Sentry

Sentry captures errors, performance traces, session replays and logs from web, mobile and backend apps and groups them into actionable issues with stack traces. Almost every SDK ecosystem has a Sentry client. The Developer plan is the free tier and is intended for a single person.

What the free plan gives you

Developer is limited to one user and includes 5k errors a month, 5M spans for tracing, 50 session replays, 5 GB of logs, 5 GB of application metrics, 1 GB of attachments, 1 uptime monitor, 1 cron monitor and 10 custom dashboards. Data retention is a 30-day lookback. All SDKs, source map processing, release tracking, alerting and the GitHub, Slack and Jira integrations are available. Sentry also offers an open source self-hosted build with no quotas if you want to run it yourself.

Where the free plan stops

The single-user limit is the first wall: the moment a second engineer needs to triage, you must upgrade. 5k errors a month sounds like plenty until one bad deploy sends a burst, and 50 replays goes in a day on a busy site. The Team plan is $26 a month billed annually (slightly more monthly) with unlimited users, 50k errors, 20 dashboards and API integrations. Business at $80 a month adds 90-day lookback, unlimited dashboards and SAML/SCIM.

Who it suits

Solo developers and side projects can run on Developer indefinitely, and the 30-day retention is fine for fixing what broke last week. Any team, even two people, needs Team, or should consider self-hosting if the $26 a month is not in budget.
