Turso is a hosted SQLite service built for apps that want many small databases, one per user or per tenant, instead of one big Postgres. Developers building edge apps, mobile backends and AI agents use it. The Free plan is the entry point: 100 databases and 5GB of storage at no cost, with no card required.

What the free plan gives you

• 100 databases
• 5GB of total storage
• 500 million rows read a month
• 10 million rows written a month
• 3GB of sync traffic a month for embedded replicas
• 1 day of point-in-time restore
• The libSQL client libraries, HTTP API and CLI

Those read and write allowances are large for a hobby project. A side project with a few thousand users would rarely get near 500 million row reads in a month.

Where the free plan stops

• 100 databases. If your design is one database per user, this arrives quickly.
• 5GB of storage across everything.
• 1 day of point-in-time restore, which is thin if something goes wrong on a Friday.

The Developer plan at $4.99 a month is the fix for all three: unlimited databases, 9GB of storage, 2.5 billion row reads, 25 million writes, 10GB of sync and 10 days of restore. Scaler at $24.92 a month is the next step for production workloads. Note the earlier 500-database free allowance has been reduced to 100.

Who it suits

The Free plan is a good fit for prototypes, personal apps and anything with a single database and modest traffic. Multi-tenant designs that spin up a database per customer should plan for Developer at $4.99 a month from day one, because the database cap, not traffic, is what forces the upgrade.
