Lunacy

Lunacy is a free vector design app from Icons8 for Windows, macOS and Linux that opens Sketch files and ships with built-in libraries of icons, photos and illustrations. Solo designers, developers mocking up UI, and Linux users without access to Figma's desktop app use it for interface and marketing graphics. The Free plan is free for personal and commercial work; the paid subscriptions cover cloud collaboration and the asset library.

Where the free plan stops

The limits are around collaboration and assets, not the drawing tools. The 10-document cloud cap and 30-day history are lifted by the Personal Cloud plan at $4.99 per month, which gives unlimited cloud documents and editors, full version history, permanent storage of deleted files and no ads. Using library graphics as SVG or high-resolution PNG without attribution, and the AI Image Upscaler, require the Graphics subscription at $9.99 per month. Team plans add members at $4.99 per user per month on top of a base plan. The docs note that cloud and graphics subscriptions are separate purchases.

Who it suits

If you design alone, keep files locally or need fewer than 10 cloud documents, and can live with attribution on stock assets, Lunacy costs nothing for as long as you like. Teams working in shared cloud files daily or designers who pull a lot of unattributed stock graphics will end up paying $5 to $15 a month, which is still below Figma's per-seat pricing.
