Formbricks is an open source survey and in-app feedback platform, positioned as a privacy-friendly alternative to Typeform and Hotjar surveys. Product teams embed it in web and mobile apps; small businesses use the link surveys. You can self-host the AGPL code for free, or use the hosted Hobby plan.

What the free plan gives you

The Hobby plan on Formbricks Cloud is free and includes 250 responses a month in 1 workspace. You get link surveys, in-product surveys, every question type, conditional logic, hidden fields, partial responses, recall of earlier answers, multimedia backgrounds, file uploads, single-use links and full API access. Self-hosting has no response cap at all, and the Docker setup runs on a small VPS.

Where the free plan stops

On the cloud, 250 responses a month runs out fast once a survey is live in an app with real traffic. Respondent identification, contact and segment management, the integrations catalogue (Slack, Notion, HubSpot and others), email follow-ups, custom webhooks and the iOS and Android SDKs all sit on Pro, which is $74/mo for 2,000 responses and 3 workspaces with unlimited seats. Scale at $325/mo covers 5,000 responses, 5 workspaces, teams with access roles, quotas, workflows and two-factor authentication.

Who it suits

Hobby is right for a founder running occasional link surveys, or a developer prototyping in-app feedback. If you want to target surveys to identified users or push results into your CRM, the cloud free plan will not do it and you either pay $74/mo or self-host. Teams with a DevOps person and a strict data residency need should self-host; everyone else will find Pro cheaper than the engineering time.
