Because Krita is open source, the ceiling is your own infrastructure rather than a billing page. Self-hosting costs nothing but your time, and a hosted plan is there if you would rather not run it.

When you would pay

You may never need to. The free tier is not a funnel step here, so the sensible move is to use it until something it genuinely cannot do forces the question.

We list Krita because the free plan was checked against its own pricing page, not because a vendor asked. If it has changed, tell us and we will re-check it.
